Vatican Museums

All the visitors must undergo the security checks at the entrance of the Vatican Museums.
For everyone’s safety, all bags, rucksacks, packages and personal items may be searched before entry. Wheeled cases and large items of luggage are not allowed on Vatican Museums’ premises. To facilitate and speed up security checks by metal detector, visitors are advised to remove inadmissible items (large umbrellas; glass bottles) from their hand baggage beforehand, and to inform staff in advance. Storage for luggage is available for free at the entrance of the Museums.
Before entering the exhibition spaces, visitors are required to store their luggage, suitcases, backpacks, packages and containers which, due to their size and features, are not considered suitable by the staff.


Vatican Outbuildings
Entry to Vatican Museums and Sistine Chapel is permitted only to appropriately dressed visitors. Low-cut or sleeveless clothing, shorts and miniskirts are not allowed- Shoulders and knees should always be covered.

Colosseum / Palatine / Roman Forum – Archaeological Area
Due to uneven floors and pavimentation, is strongly recommended to wear comfortable shoes.

Practical clothing and comfortable footwear are recommended.
